The Pirates of Penzance
For this project, I researched Victorian fashion (1870s–1880s), the era when the play was written. The Pirate King and Major-General Stanley, though opposites, were designed to stand out equally. To emphasize the humor in the production, I chose to use matching colors for the pirates and Major-General’s daughters, suggesting they could pair off as couples by the play’s end. The policemen and Major-General share the same mustache style further to highlight their connection in a playful, exaggerated way.
